Pioneering Education Through the Belt and Road Initiative
Samarkand International College is more than just an academic institution—it’s a cornerstone in the growing educational collaboration between China and Uzbekistan. With its founding deeply rooted in the principles of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the college plays a transformative role in cultivating international talent and strengthening regional connectivity.
Established on September 5, 2024, by a presidential decree from the Republic of Uzbekistan, the college is a direct response to the Chinese Ministry of Education’s 2016 policy, “Promoting the Joint Construction of the Belt and Road Initiative in Education.” It aims to realize people-to-people connectivity across Central Asia and beyond, serving as a bridge for cultural, academic, and professional exchange.
By combining the educational resources of leading Chinese and Uzbek institutions, Samarkand International College offers dual-degree programs where students can earn degrees from both Samarkand and partner universities in China. This model is supported by an internationally blended faculty, cutting-edge curriculum, and strong emphasis on bilingual and trilingual instruction (Chinese, English, Uzbek).
With a capacity of 6,000 students, the college also maintains active partnerships with more than 30 universities and institutions globally. These collaborations not only expand research and academic development but also create rich opportunities for international exchange, preparing students for leadership in global development.
